History was made on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 as the maiden matriculation ceremony for the pioneer degree students of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti was held amidst pomp and circumstances. The formal induction rites into the University was graced by the top University functionaries, members of the University Senate, parents and guardians as well as well wishers.
Delivering the matriculation charge at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Adeoluwa congratulated the students on their well-merited admission to the University, a feat he described as an opportunity for them to receive functional and robust education which would spur them to academic and professional greatness. He advised the students to be of good behaviour and shun hooliganism. He reiterated the institution’s zero tolerance for moral decadence and vices such as indiscipline, indolence, cultism, cyber crimes, examination malpractices and the likes. He informed the students that the University guarantees equal rights and opportunities to all students urging them to always engage in dialogue as against violence.
Adeoluwa acknowledged and lauded the immense contributions of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the Chancellor, Chief Wole Olanipekun, the Pro Chancellor, Chief Afolabi Ojuawo, the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado and members of staff of the institution towards the upgrading of the erstwhile College of Education to a University.
In his goodwill message, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede represented by the State Coordinator, Mr. Hameed AbdulAhmed enjoined the students to remain committed to their studies and abide by the school rules and regulations.
A total of 2614 degree and NCE students were matriculated into the institution for the 2020/2021 academic session.
