The reward of the teacher seems not to be entirely domiciled in heaven again as many governments at all levels and organisations have started acknowledging the yeoman’s contributions of teachers in the lives of individuals and manpower development of the nation. A semblance of this is the annual celebration of the World Teachers’ Day, an auspicious moment in which governments especially in Nigeria roll out rewards for outstanding individuals in the chalk and talk industry. At the 2021 edition of the annual celebration recently, the Vice Principal (Administration) of the University Demonstration Secondary School, Ikere-Ekiti, Mr. Omotayo Peke clinched the best teacher award in the Public Secondary School category in Ekiti State.
In her reaction, the Principal of the School, Dr. Olayinka Ojo congratulated Mr. Peke on the laudable achievement describing it as an honour well deserved. He extolled Mr. Peke as an asset to the school and the teaching profession going by his track record of hard work, dedication, diligence and selflessness. Mr. Omotayo Peke joined the school in 2004 as a class teacher and rose through the ranks to his current position as Vice Principal.
