BOUESTI UPBEAT AS MAIDEN CONVOCATION ACTIVITIES BEGIN

The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, is in high spirits as it commences activities for its Maiden Convocation Ceremony, a landmark event in the institution’s history. The week-long celebration, packed with exciting and thought-provoking events, will run from Monday, 3rd March to Sunday, 9th March, 2025, bringing together students, alumni, staff, parents and distinguished guests.

Like the first light of dawn heralding a new day, the festivities will kick off on Monday at 10am with the Vice-Chancellor’s Press Conference, where the University’s leadership will highlight the institution’s milestones, challenges and future aspirations.

On Tuesday, the focus will be on reconnecting with the University’s past as it hosts Alumni Day, a platform for former students to reunite and explore ways to contribute to their alma mater’s development. A novelty football match will also be held between BOUESTI female staff and BOUESTI female students at the Sports Pavilion by 3pm.

Wednesday promises an evening of artistic and cultural expression, with a Convocation Play and a Students’ Variety Evening, designed to showcase the creative talents.

The much-anticipated Vice-Chancellor’s Evening on Thursday between 4pm and 6pm will provide a relaxed yet engaging atmosphere for staff and stakeholders to interact, celebrate and share ideas.

On Friday, history will be made as the University Library is named in honour of the former Provost of the defunct College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Prof. William Olu-Aderounmu in recognition of his contributions to the institution. Thereafter, a Jumat Service will hold at the Ikere Central Mosque at 1pm to offer prayers for the institution’s continued growth.

The climax of the week-long event will be on Saturday, which marks Convocation Day. The day will begin at 10am with a highly insightful Convocation Lecture titled “Nigeria Within the Context of Global University Development”, to be delivered by a distinguished scholar and Emeritus Professor of History, Akinjide Osuntokun. This will be followed by the official conferment of degrees and honorary awards to deserving graduands and eminent personslities respectively.

The celebration will round off on Sunday with a Thanksgiving Service at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Ikere-Ekiti where the University community will gather by 10am to express gratitude for a successful convocation.

With a blend of academic excellence, cultural displays and moments of reflection, the Maiden Convocation Ceremony of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, is set to be a historic and memorable occasion.
