ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF VICE-CHANCELLOR

A Call to Visionary Leadership                                                                                       
The Governing Council of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) hereby announces that the position of Vice-Chancellor will become vacant effective January 6, 2026. In accordance with the provisions of the extant regulations of the University, the Council hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and distinguished candidates with outstanding academic and administrative records, vision, proven leadership qualities and ability to drive the development agenda of the University.

The University
The University was established on October 16, 2020, following its upgrade from a College of Education to a full-fledged University. This milestone marked a significant transformation in its academic and institutional status. Shortly after, the University received its operational license from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on November 6, 2020, granting it the authority to commence academic and administrative operations.

BOUESTI is a dynamic and an ascending institution committed to redefining higher education through a focus on academic excellence, technology-driven instruction, innovation-led research, and sustainable development.

To generate, disseminate, advance knowledge and educate students in science and technology with the aim of bringing this knowledge to finding solutions to the major challenges facing society and the world’s challenges in the 21st century.

The Position
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Academic Officer and Chief Accounting Officer of the University. He/She is responsible to the Governing Council in providing strategic leadership, driving academic and administrative excellence, and ensuring financial sustainability that will position the University as a centre of excellence in teaching, learning, research, innovation and community service.

The Ideal Candidate
The next Vice Chancellor of BOUESTI must be a visionary academic leader with:

• A distinguished record of scholarship, research, and innovation.
• Proven experience in university administration and strategic management.
• A deep commitment to technology-driven education and institutional transformation.
• The ability to attract and manage funding for institutional growth and sustainability.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Integrity, transparency, and the courage to lead reform for academic and operational excellence.

Qualifications and Requirements
The candidate must:

• Be a distinguished academic of the rank of Professor for at least ten years.
• Have a proven record of academic excellence, scholarship and research.
• Demonstrate outstanding leadership and managerial abilities in a University or similar academic institution.
• Have a clear vision for the growth and development of the University.
• Possess a track record of attracting research funding and promoting an environment of innovation and creativity.
• Be of unassailable integrity, probity and moral rectitude.
• Have excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrate the ability to foster collaboration and build strong internal and external networks.
• Be able to demonstrate the ability to attract, motivate and retain highly skilled and talented staff (teaching and non-teaching).
• Be an individual who, judging from his/her track records, is likely to command the respect as well as the loyalty of members of staff and the University Community.
• Demonstrate robust knowledge and practical competence in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and its application to modern University administration, teaching, learning and research.
• Be of sound physical and mental health and demonstrate the stamina required to effectively discharge the responsibilities of the office.
• Be not older than 64 years as at the date of possible assumption of duty on January 6, 2026;

Tenure
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years only.

Salary and Conditions of Service                                                                                    
The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellor in all Nigerian Public Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Government and the Governing Council of the University.
